I'm Back!!!

ree

Guess what. My wife and I welcomed a baby into the world 2 years ago and it's felt like I'm walking through mud. But HAPPY MUD!

As many of you with kids know, the first few years are a particular kind of challenge. It's been nothing but feedings, bottles, learning to use a cup, learning to walk, finding daycare, organizing the house (which we moved into 2 days after our girl was born), and diapers, diapers, diapers. When I started The Cineverse over a year ago, I was on paternity leave and so could write a post whenever our daughter took a nap, and even for a time after going back to work I could manage a post. But exhaustion finally got the best of me. Now our growing bundle of joy is in a routine, life has settled a little bit, and I'm excited to get back to creating.

As we move through this journey together, I want you to consider this sacred space, this Cineverse, to be your sanctuary. It is where you can come and share your highs and lows, your ambitions and your fears. It's where we creatives can take a breath and reflect on what we've done, and plan for the future.

Where I am right now: My movie, Zero Sum Game, was put on hold in post. The major editing is done, but it needs finishing--sound design, VFX, music, coloring. I have a cut with temp music and placeholders for VFX with no coloring. Here's a trailer I made if you want to check it out (https://vimeo.com/586463219?fl=tl&fe=ec). Over the past couple of years I've made some very weak attempts at getting interest from a production company but as I've said above, I was in the throws of taking care of our first baby, so I didn't have a whole lot of energy to spare. But you know what we do as creatives? We do what we can, when we can. Art and life simply have to move hand-in-hand. That's how we do.

So, my short term plan is to build a list of new people to contact about finishing the film. I also want to start a new YT channel to document the journey as well as show some

BTS about the process. It was an incredible journey that I think you'll find fascinating as we shot in the empty streets of Venice, CA during the pandemic. We had some wild nights!

I'll be sharing with you guys regularly and hopefully you'll be sharing your filmmaking journeys as well. Until then, if you have any ideas for posts or videos, let me know!
